Ninja Warrior Competition
The Ninja Carolina League (NCL) is a league for Ninja Warrior athletes in the Carolinas at Beginner and Novice levels — all ages from 6 to 86 are welcome. Athletes compete in separate divisions determined by age, gender, and experience level, and we're excited to be hosting a Season 7 Qualifier right here at Sumter Ninja Warrior.
Qualifiers throughout the Carolinas run from September through mid-February for an opportunity to compete in the league finals. Advanced/Pro finals are held at the end of February, and Novice/Beginner finals in early March. Qualification for — and run order in — the finals are determined by an athlete's top 3 Qualifier performances during the season. Age categories are based on your age as of January 1, 2027, and athletes can generally compete at the highest level they choose (typically on a trusted coach's advice) — except that only first-year competitors may enter a Novice division.
How competition day works
- Athletes get a designated warm-up area away from their course.
- At the start of your wave you'll get a course walk-through covering the course, its specific rules, time limits (typically 2–4 minutes) and how to earn points — no touching the obstacles before or during the walkthrough.
- You'll then have time to plan your approach (with help from any coaches) before running the course with a judge awarding points and capturing your time.
- If time permits at the end of your wave, there's “redemption time” to go back and challenge yourself on the obstacles.
Divisions & milestones
Every division runs on a live leaderboard — and athletes can earn ribbons for hitting milestones.
Novices
First year competing
Courses include basic but creative obstacles. Milestone ribbons: Outstanding Run (70–85% of possible points), Top Finisher (85+%), or High Score (highest in the division).
Beginners
Second year or more, not yet advanced
Courses include basic but creative obstacles. Milestone ribbons: Outstanding Run (80% of possible points), Top Finisher (90%), or High Score (highest in the division).
